Few songs are transcendent enough to change culture. The Beatle’s “Let It Be” shared words of wisdom in our darkest hours. Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” still brings a tear to previously dry-eyed rooms. But now, music (and paid advertising) has changed forever.
“Work Done” (Feat. Melissa Gorga, Porsha Williams, Sonja Morgan with special appearances by Dorinda Medley and Tamra Judge) by Fiber One is not only the song of the summer, but a generation’s anthem.
The climatic chorus includes lyrics like, “Tweak it, tweak it, tweak it, ow!” “Gettin’ work done, like a sledgehammer;” and my personal favorite, “New nose, who dis?”
Who dis, indeed. There is not a better collective of women to ask (and answer) the questions of a generation than the housewives of New Jersey, Atlanta, New York, and Orange County. They have managed to deliver a bop while also dealing with subjects like poop-inducing brownies, rhinoplasty, lip injections, and other miscellaneous plastic surgeries.
True to housewife form, the ladies also couldn’t miss an opportunity to plug their personal catchphrases alongside such poignant lyricism. A “That’s my opinion!” from Judge early in the video and a “Clip!” from Medley at the end add a bit of creative freedom from the women who signed up to be in a 70-calorie brownie music video.
Lisa Rinna is shaking. Erika Jayne just cancelled her tour. Camille Grammer is white girl wasted somewhere dancing on a table while Fraiser reruns play in the background. Kim Zolziack-Biermann is on time for the party. The Countess’s Cabaret could never.
Oh, and Porscha looks amazing.
