President Donald Trump has a long history of racial demagoguery, and Wednesday night was no exception. At a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina, the president allowed his riled-up crowd to chant about Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali refugee who became a U.S. citizen.

“Send her back! Send her back!” they yelled in unison, advocating for the deportation, a legal citizen. Some people in the crowd even raised their fists as they spoke out, or held up campaign signs. A few of the chanters, as you can see in the video below, were children following the lead of adults.

According to Vox, the chants broke out after Trump “spent some time smearing Omar, going as far as to baselessly suggest she supports al-Qaeda.” He allowed the chant to continue for a full 13 seconds.

All this comes just a few days after Trump went on a racist social media tirade telling four new Democratic members of Congress to “go back” to the “corrupt” countries where they came from:

So interesting to see “Progressive: Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly……

…and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how….

…it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

Trump then asserted Tuesday that his tweets targeting the quartet of progressive congresswomen—Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley—”were NOT Racist” and that he doesn’t have, “a Racist bone” in his body.

Three of the women were born in this country, and Omar came to the U.S. as a refugee.

In response to the offensive rally chants, Omar tweeted a Maya Angelou quote: “You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise.” She also wrote on Twitter, “I am where I belong, at the people’s house and you’re just gonna have to deal!”

Omar’s daughter, teen climate activist Isra Hirsi, also responded on Twitter, writing, “This is not surprising coming from mr president but black women are strong and fight back and i know that this won’t stop my mother from fighting for her constituents especially when their president won’t fight for them.”

It wasn’t just Omar who drew scorn from the crowd on Wednesday. According to The Wall Street Journal, the mere mention of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Rashida Tlaib also, “drew a deafening round of boos and shouts of ‘traitor’ and ‘treason’ from the crowd.”
