Bella Hadid is very much no longer a brunette. The model has been taking her hair shade progressively lighter over the last couple months. And while she was a dirty blonde before, she’s an outright blonde now…and her shade is a brighter, lighter blonde than her sister Gigi Hadid’s hair.
Here’s Bella’s hair yesterday from when she was out in Los Angeles:
Compare that to Gigi Hadid’s darker, dirty blonde when she was shot out in New York City at the beginning of August:
And compare Bella’s hair yesterday to the last good shot Bella shared of her hair on her Instagram on August 5. She was blonde, yes, but her hair had less platinum in there than she has now:
Both Gigi and Bella are natural blondes. Bella explained that she didn’t choose to go brunette to differentiate herself from her older sister as they both pursued modeling. Bella told Glamour in 2016 that she just wanted brown hair.
“I didn’t really dye my hair to separate myself from Gigi,” she said. “I started dyeing my hair when I was 14. I dyed it black and blue, I wore eyeliner—I was a punk kid. I might want to go blond eventually!”
And now, she’s very much back to the shade. Her blonde progression started in March. “Back to dirty blonde, back to my roots ! Per @mertalas wishes 💫,” Bella captioned her Instagram unveiling the first 2019 blonde iteration of her hair. Her transition from dirty blonde to full-fledge blonde took another six months to complete.
